Insight from Bruce Reed

From a recent post on The Has Been:

"It's a paradox: The party with grand ambitions for government is suspicious of the office that could best achieve them, while the party broadly opposed to the use of government power wants to get its hands on as much of it as possible."

Skin Deep: Shaving With Five Blades When Maybe Two Will Do
by NICK BURNS
Is the five blade razor really a sharp turn in shaving technology? Or is blade inflation only a marketing gimmick?

Alito Hearings Begin!

Sam Alito's confirmation hearings begin today! Tune into C-Span now, or watch online at c-span.org! I hate not being there. I'll be glued to the tv all week.

Triumphant Return

Happy New Year.
I'm back in Tuscaloosa from my great semester in DC. Just looking at the previous post, Katrina about to hit, it's hard to believe how long it's been, and how much has happened, since my last correspondence.

Recent history: My last day at the Senate was the Thursday, Dec. 22. I packed and left Friday, got home Saturday night, had Christmas on Sunday. After a few days at home, back to Tuscaloosa, then Stephanie and I went to Savannah for New Year's and now we're back in T-Town. I've got lots of work to do before school starts next Monday, and my house is in disarray, as my landlady Ann had lots of work done on it recently.

It's nice to be back on the blog. Until I can write something more substantive, here is one of the top recent photos.

And here is one to get us back to what matters.
